Because it looks so much better when you’re just about to bite.

That is far too simple,
She is the type to support you in envy that you are doing what she could not.
Could it be written in the stars,
Perhaps they are born to be, selfish.
Like the rest of us.
Claims of false pride, she owns, for you.
Hurts that much more,
A Slow burn,
To roast your friendship and self-confidence, from the inside out.
Both gifted in different ways,
Could be such a force of nature if put together.
Solemnly sure,
That you two are doing what others can’t.
Those hugs so graciously given,
Never held for quite long enough that your warmth might be shared.
Yet that your energy could be inhaled.
She rules her relationships with an iron fist.
When it comes to trust she seems to keep you at an arms-length.
Keep your friends close.
Why is there a starting line?
There haven’t been boundaries or parameters,
We can’t win,
When the whistle blows,
Tingling the sense of entitlement, she has,
Want what she wants, and she wants it her way,
Yet you have to play,
Don’t touch what she has,
But share yours.
