Gentlemen and dearest Portia. So many politicians are disreputable. No wonder with no training and often no “background” as they say. Could I offer a solution? As is so often the case, the Boy Scouts present us with a paradigm that we must adopt with the most singular speed.

But you must wonder could a few minutes of garbled mumbles from some woodsy oaf make it safe for a child to wield such implements? Here then is the beauty of this piece of cardboard.

If anyone sees the lad misusing the knife after the exam, like hurling it at a tree or perish the notion at another dewy youth the card is yanked and a corner is torn off. Lose all four corners and the authorization is gone for a year and remedial training and perhaps a good parental whooping is prescribed. The child claims to be a responsible citizen. If he is not the privilege is lost forthwith.
