Apple Magsafe Puck

For 39 dollars just to have a wireless puck…and that too without the charging brick…it is not solving any problem apart from the fact that the lightning port on the iphone is now free to be used for wired earphones or some other accessories while charging. And the convenience factor that you just have to place your phone onto that puck and it will charge without having to worry about the placement because magnets baby!!

Apple magsafe duo

This was a great product when it was launched. I just loved the portability of this product. I know it is a lot pricier ($129), but it is the most compact wireless charger out there. But in February 2023, the problem with this product is that the wireless charger for the apple watch does not support the fast wireless charging for the apple watch series 7,8 and ultra.

And the fact that it does not come with a charging brick out of the box and you need to have,not the 18watt or the 20watt adapter to get the fastest charging speeds but the 27watt adapter at least to get the 14w of peak charge. And you read it right 14w not 15w.

And that it uses has a lightning port. This can be both a pro and a con. Like if you are only going to use this charger for the iphone,airpods and apple watch (which it is meant to be) then you are already there in the apple eco system and will always have a usb C- lightning cable with you. And when you are not doing wireless charging you can use the cable and straightaway charge your iphone with the lightning cable for a faster charge. But if you are like me and have an ipad pro or even an android device then it will be usb C-C. And if this product would have come with a usb c port i would have to carry one cable less. I guess if there will be a day when apple shifts to usb C for the iphone and the airpods, then and only then there is a chance that this product could exist with a usb -c port.I would have loved if this product came with a usb C port instead of lightning.

Belkin boost charge pro stand

This stand is a really good product both aesthetically and functionally…It supports both 15w of fast charging for the iphone and has the fast charging puck for the apple watch series 7,8 and ultra.The only down side with the stand is that it goes one step ahead of the apple magsafe duo and instead of giving it a usb C or Lightning port it has it’s own proprietary port.That is such a bummer but if you look at the stand it is a charger made for your home and not something that you can travel with while the magsafe duo was made from the travelling point of view.So it is still ok to use the proprietary port as it is not made for travelling but instead to be used as a stationary 3-in-1 wireless charger.But still it would have been great to have a usb c port on this one.

A major con with this product is that if you use any iphone which supports qi wireless charging but does not have the magsafe tech built in (iphone,8 – iphone 11 series) or any other qi wireless charging device you cannot charge it with this one as because of it’s design the mobile device will be floating in the air and needs the magnets to hold it there. This was not the case with the magsafe puck or the magsafe duo as both of them rest on a flat surface and can charge any qi compatible device at 7.5w.

You can get the magnetic ring cases from amazon if available for your device and charge at 7.5w of peak wireless charging.

Belkin boost charge pro flat one

This is the best overall charger for stationary use and can be used for travelling the only problem is this comes with a proprietary charging brick just like the stand. It also supports both 15w of fast charging for the iphone and has the fast charging puck for the apple watch series 7,8 and ultra. And from the design point of view this could have been the best wireless charger for travel but belkin again gives it a proprietary charging port. Like i understand belkin doing this for the stand as it is made to be used as a stationary. But this flat one can be carried around while travelling and if it would have had a usb C port, this would have been a great travel companion

But if you are looking for a stationary 3-in-1 wireless charger, look no further this product is the best one. As the magsafe charging puck for the iphone can charge any qi wireless charging device at 7.5w and as it lays flat it does not need magnets. The only thing is you need to place the qi enabled device properly so that it aligns with the charging coils. And as mentioned above it has that fast charger for the apple watch series 7,8 and the ultra.

And it is also aesthetically beautiful and well put together. I just love the black one.

This can also be used as a charger while travelling only thing you need to carry the proprietary charging brick which comes in the box

Mophie 3-in-1 wireless charger

This charger could have been the best wireless charger out there for travelling and portability. But the only bummer with this product is that the apple watch charging module is not a fast one and hence it does not support the fast wireless charging for the apple watch series 7,8 and the ultra. It can also charge any qi compatible wireless charging device at 7.5w.

If you can live with the slow wireless charger for the apple watch and want a portable 3-in-1 wireless charger look no further as this comes with a 30w charging brick and a usb c port on the charger and also comes with a beautiful case for the wireless charger as well as the charging brick

The build quality could have been better. Like if you compare it with the apple magsafe duo it is not that premium in build quality. But it is not bad either

Anker 3-in-1 Wireless Charging cube

This is a comparitively new entrant in the market. This can be the best 3-in-1 wireless portable wireless charger out there. As it comes with the usb C port, comes with a 30w charging brick out of the box, supports fast wireless charging for the apple watch series 7,8 and the ultra. Can also charge the qi compatible devices at 7.5w as you can place your device flat but if you want to charge a qi compatible device you will need to place it flat and then you cannot use the airpods charger as the magsafe charger for needs to to life up to a 60 degree angle to be able to use it.

The only issue with this product for me is that it uses a spring mechanism for the apple watch charger and i am not quite sure about the durability of this spring mechanism and the magsafe chager also uses a hinge. And whenever there are moving parts in a tech product it can have durability issues in the long term and as it is a new product in the market like it is only 6 months old. It needs to be test for the long term for the durability thing

The other problem i have with this product is i feel in trying to make it compact. It does not have much room for heat dissipation. Like the magsafe duo, the belkin 3-in-1 flat wireless charger and the mophie one all have flat pads for all the three devices and have good room for heat dissipation and the belkin stand is having the devices placed way away from each other. So yeah i feel less room for heat dissipation can affect the charging speeds.

But otherwise in february 2023 this is the best portable 3-in-1 wireless charger out there which has the fast charging apple watch module.

Otter box 3 in 1 magsafe charger

It is again a great option but i am very clear if i want a charger for my home like it is going to stay put then it has to be belkin. I have used belkin products in the past and they are great and there is a trust with belkin. And personally i really like the design aesthetic of the belkin stand as well as the pad and they look solidly put together. Especially the black ones they look so beautful. But this one is a great option for someone who wants a usb c everything kinda thing as it comes with a 36watt brick with usb c-c cable…but for me if it is a stand it does not matter whether it is usb c or not.

CONCLUSION

SO IN CONCLUSION IN MAY 2023 for stationary 3-in-1 wireless charger this belkin stand and the pad are two great options and it is just the form factor that you need to decide on. I would not recommend the flat belkin one for travelling as you need to carry the proprietary brick which comes in the box.

FOR PORTABILITY AND TRAVELLING the mophie and the anker ones are the best. If you can live with the slow charger for the apple watch. The mophie is the best wireless charger out there for travelling. I love the anker cube but it not being long enough is the market does not inspire that much of confidence to me personally. But yeah then it comes from a reputed brand and it should be a great product and as of May 2023 it is the only portable charger out there that supports the fast wireless charging for the apple watch.
