The Unseen Threat that kills people

Threat is an ambitious word. If something or someone is a threat, you should destroy them(it’s a joke, don’t do it.). You hear the word 'Threat' in military based movies, world domination movies, political movies. Everyone talks about global threats like. ‘Global warning’,’Hole in the ozone’(There are bigger holes in city roads now-a-days). Lets not talk about political issues, global issues, regional issues.

The Threat I am going to talk about is 'Mental Health’. ‘It’s obvious(Many may say)’. Even though we come to see many Feeds on mental health and well being, there is still no awareness about it. For example, in my locality(in Tamilnadu, India) people are well aware of their physical health(or atleast that’s what i think). But it becomes nearly zero if the topic is Mental health. India contributes 15% of total people with mental health issues in the world. That’s a lot, because nearly 7.5 % of worlds population suffer from mental illness.

Whats the issue with ‘Mental health’? Lets get an example. Every 40 seconds, a person dies from suicide(The World health organisation announced). If that’s not a serious mental issue then, i will give you another , living with a mental disorder or illness is like training a psycopath(Serial killers in movies and real life are the best examples), they are a threat to themselves and the society,this is even worse than suicide as it affects others.

What should we do? The point i am going to make is philosophical. But it has proven to be working. You should just try to lie to yourself that ,’We are in good shape, everything happening will be good.’. This is a magical statement that reprogrammes your mind to think positive. This might not be your statement. But you can make you own statements like, ‘ I will be good’, 'People are good’, ‘I am good.’ you can add on to it. 'YOU BECOME WHAT YOU THINK’ (it doesn’t mean you should think bad about others, just think good about yourself), this is not a philosophical phrase, this is the truth.

Is there any other solution to it? Curing mental illness is a routine. It is a lifestyle, not medicine. Certain psycological illness are cured by counselling and some by medicine. In the end , it all comes to our perspective of the situation. If possible other people can help a depressed person by involving them in activities that will make engage and get distracted from thier thoughts.

Lets not unsee other people who are in depression and lets try to help them. I may not be doctor, but i am human. As a human i know what depression is and how hard it is. Just get over it. Worrying means you die twice.
