Innovation Is Realization To Money Domination

Construction is an ever changing industry and it is absolutely fascinating to me! I have grown up working with alot of old timers and how they do things still is shocking when there are so many cool innovations that make life so much easier and saves everybody money. I think the reason that I am so fascinated with these innovations is because I have done every grueling job there is from digging ditches, to crawling through insulation in an attic.

While I attended school at BYU-Idaho I took a class called BIM modeling….this stands for Building Information Modeling. Basically you can build a 3d virtual building from the ground up. This allows for sub contractors to place their work through the project quicker, more accurate, and foresee any other future problems before the physical work begins. This saves time, and money.

The second coolest innovation that is being used are drones and other high tech cameras. The use of drones is a game changer. With aerial footage and software capable of creating point cloud images allows contractors to predict costs through estimation and better keep a schedule. I worked for Okland construction where I got FAA part 107 Certified and was trained in drone surveillance. With a drone I was able to scan project sites and help our estimating teams save money as well as our scheduling team by showing them day to day project progression.

3-D Printing is used over a wide variety of industries but I think this will be forever changing the industry. Pretty much, for low budget and block houses 3-D printers allow for you to create structures in hours. WHat would normally take a whole crew of workers to do in days. Using robotics and electric concrete pumps an uploaded designs and plans are followed by the robot to build the walls for homes. I can only see this innovation become more and more profound.
