Creating value is at the core of every business

Business as we know it is using scarcity as a driver for making stuff cheap. Scarcity and scale are the mantras. But there is another way. And more and more businesses are adopting this way. They are building value upon value upon value. And changing the rules of the game.

Let me tell you about abundance as a driver for doing business. One warning: when you discover abundance and get to experiment with synergy, you might become as addicted as I am to creating value and sharing it within the interconnected system.

A real understanding of the concept of abundance might change our business ways forever. And don’t worry, I’m not talking about multilevel marketing. It’s way more ethical, resilient, and ingenious than that.

And you might want to apply this wisdom to your startup too.

So, let me explain a little about our current business models. They are linear models going from A to B in a straight line. They look a bit like this.

We use scarcity as a marketing driver. Telling people that they should buy now or it won’t be available anymore. And we use scale to make our products cheap. Large production sites are used to produce as efficiently and cheaply as possible. The global market is adding to cheap as well. We like to produce in cheap countries and ship it where the more affluent demand is.
